Biography
Chad grew up in Fargo and Grand Forks, North Dakota. He left because he could not stand the congestion. Before he left, though, he did his undergraduate studies (in mechanical engineering and economics) at the University of North Dakota. He's still a big UND sports fan—especially football. The Sioux were the NCAA Division II national champions in 2001 and runners-up in 2003. Graduate work was at the University of Maryland, with a fellowship at the Brookings Institution during his final year before heading to Chicago. Chad and his wife Genaya live with their children Claire, Adam, Victoria, and Gabrielle in the finest neighborhood (humble apologies to his colleagues in Hyde Park) on Chicago's South Side: Beverly.
