Lifetime Income Series: Rebekah Rotstein on Pilates and Exercise for Osteoporosis

Jim welcomes Rebekah Rotstein, a recognized expert in Pilates, exercises for those with osteoporosis, and a leader in promoting lifetime fitness to prevent pain and maintain bone health. Rebekah is the founder of Incorporating Movement, a Pilates and movement education organization, and the designer of the Buff Bones® system, with trained instructors in more than 20 countries. Rebekah and Jim discuss her own story and how she was diagnosed with osteoporosis at age 28. They also cover the various forms of Pilates, as well the modifications that must be used to protect those with osteoporosis. In addition Rebekah notes that her system, based on the research in the field, incorporates more balance and strength training exercises than a normal Pilates workout. She also stresses that if one does have osteoporosis, that they only go to an instructor that has been trained in teaching Pilates to those with osteoporosis. Rebekah’s personal interest in the subject led her to serve as an ambassador for American Bone Health and a partner of the US Department of Health & Human Services. More about the Buff Bones® program can be found at buff-bones.com.
