Standard & Poor’s reported(.pdf) that U.S. home prices continued to rise in October, despite the ongoing seasonal slowdown that is clear to see in the unadjusted data below. On a year-over-year basis, home prices were up 13.6 percent and, as noted in this Wall Street Journal story($) yesterday, some areas are looking pretty bubbly.
Obviously, the real estate market is going to be the subject of much discussion in 2014 (along with interest rates, the Fed, and the unprecedented surge in Wall Street investors in housing), however, as long as stock prices continue to go up, home prices probably will too.
